Twilight Studios is a nonprofit baton twirling unit based in Madison, Ohio under the direction Miss Mishannda Hissam. Twilight is rooted in tradition and has been rapidly expanding over the last several years.
Twilight began as a parade unit with one student in 2001 under the instruction of Shawna Keringer and has grown to numbers exceeding 60 in the last few years. Mrs. Stephanie Poling took over the team from Shawna in 2008. She helped the team flourish and reach new heights by instating the position of feature twirler and starting Twilight's first competition team. Since then, Stephanie passed the torch in 2017 to Miss Mishannda Hissam and she has even furthermore expanded and enhanced the team with more performance opportunities, the addition of recital classes, the annual summer recital, and high standards for uniformity and technique.
The Twilight Twirlers' parade unit participates in many local summer parades in northeast Ohio as well as seasonal parades. In addition to parades, the parade unit has also taken part in addition performances such as The Great Lake's Mall's Kid Show and the Lake County Captain's pregame shows. The parade unit is available to any child age 5-21interested in the art of baton twirling and can start at any time throughout the year! The cost for our parade unit is $25 per month, uniform and hair pieces provided. You are only responsible for your batons, your shoes, and spirit wear! Our parade season officially starts in February and ends in early December.
Beyond our parade unit stands our competition unit that participates in the Twirling Unlimited competition circuit. Since we started competing in 2012, Twilight Studios has won many regional and international titles in baton twirling and pom line. In addition to those titles, the twirlers have also received many international, regional, and individual titles as well. Our competition team accommodates for all types of twirlers; individual, duet, and team as well as beginner, intermediate, and advanced in 5 different styles; dance twirl, strut, novelty, pom line, and colorguard. The competition unit is available to any child age 5-21 interested in going beyond the norm for a baton twirling unit and truly committing themselves to higher level of dedication. Our competition tryouts are generally in the summer and the season ends after International Championships in the following July.
Lastly, in 2020 we began offering recital classes. These classes include pom, dance, colorguard, majorette, feature twirler, tiny tots, adult teams, and for those with special needs. These classes perform each year at the annual summer recital.
Overall, Twilight is a close-knit group of talented, young, individuals who truly are dedicated and proud of what they are able to accomplish on their own, with their team, on and off the floor or parade route. Our goal at Twilight is to improve their twirling ability and make twirlers more confident in a performing environment. But more than that, we hope to create long-lasting relationships with a network of caring and compassionate people that truly support and lift each other up. We ultimately want to expand our students' knowledge and experience in twirling while focusing on the importance of teamwork and friendship to be able to raise their confidence, potential, and ability as a whole.
